Description The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) Engineering Program Manager will be responsible for driving manufacturability and cost reduction for both new product development (NPD) programs and products currently in production (Value Engineering, or VE). The position will work close with Project and Design Engineering as well as the functions within the Supply Chain to develop and drive designs that are producible and hit their cost targets. Ideal candidates will have experience with design engineering, manufacturing engineering, and supply chain design in order to aid in the development of designs that fit the supply chain, or enhance our supply chain to enable new designs.
- Deployment and adherence to processes and tools shown to improve new product introduction success
- Program manage the China Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) involvement in targeted NPD programs
- Conduct Should-cost analyses on key components and sub-systems
- Generation of ideas and solutions to enable products to hit their cost and manufacturability targets; design compatibility with supplier capability is a key focus here
- Tracking of manufacturability and cost during development
- Engage R&O experts during product design to ensure aftermarket lessons learned are applied to new designs
- Partner with AME Product Line Managers, M&PM, Engineering and Global Sourcing to ensure establishment of strategic supplier relationships
- Partner with engineering and Global Sourcing to ensure products are production-ready on time
- Conduct production Readiness Reviews (PRR) and Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) Assessments; Provide recommendations for improvements to required MRL levels to appropriate stakeholders in Global Sourcing, Manufacturing Operations, and Engineering
- Program manage key suppliers' load of proposals and new orders to ensure effectiveness
- Ensure product design change documentation is assigned, tracked and completed on schedule to support region in-sourcing
- Generate and validate ideas for cost reduction on existing products
- Program manage VE projects through to completion
- Create and execute a management operating system (MOS) whereby PS materials identifications, registrations, and compliance actions are assigned, tracked, and driven to completion
- Engage AME PS focal point and/or other PS focal points as required to ensure program-specific PS needs are met
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in either Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management, or related work experience; Knowledge of Aerospace industry would be an advantage
- Thorough knowledge of blueprint interpretation, manufacturing processes, welding, casting and physical / non-destructive inspection practices.
- Must possess strong Manufacturing process knowledge, design engineering experience/exposure, program/project management experience
- Ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings, manufacturing operations and tooling sheets (MOTs), Manufacturing and Special Process Specifications, Work Instructions, Inspection Requirements, Geometric Tolerances, Dimensional and Tolerance Stacking.
- A demonstrated bias for action and initiative, customer focus, and a strong capability to lead in a team environment; Proven problem solving skills, including ability to interpret data, define actions, and implement solutions.
- Demonstrated English written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with individuals of all disciplines and levels within the Honeywell organization.
- Six Sigma, Lean, or Toyota Production System training or certifications a plus
- Ability to be a 'change agent' and lead execution of continuous improvement projects/initiatives
- Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for implementing solutions. A working knowledge of statistical and manufacturing process control is desired
- Outstanding written / oral communication and personal computer skills
- Ability to understand concepts of product cost, fixed and variable costs, projected savings, manufacturability
- Travel varying from 10%-40% may be required
