Converteam, formerly ALSTOM Power Conversion, is since November 10, 2005 a stand-alone company held by Barclays Private Equity France (BPEF). Converteam is a 700 million euro turnover leading player in the power conversion business, positioned as a system integrator and specialised in customised solutions to convert electrical energy into mechanical energy based on the appropriate technology (drives, controls, motors and generators). The company operates in 3 core markets (marine and offshore, particularly with electrical propulsion systems for civil and military vessels, oil and gas and process industries) and addresses several niche markets (renewables and wind, cranes, power generation…). It employs over 4500 people in its different locations around the world: France, Germany, United Kingdom, United States, Brazil, China, India.
