Job Description:
1. Provide customers, both internal and external to RFMD, with RF technical product support at the RF system, component and phone board level.
2. Perform detailed circuit simulation and design of RF matching circuits, and board-level radio design, testing, tuning, and troubleshooting.
3. Participate with new standard and custom RFIC product development efforts.
4. Perform testing and debugging of product evaluation boards, making improvements as necessary.
5. Perform testing and evaluation of customer boards, making recommendations as appropriate. Perform system testing of all air standards: GSM, CDMA, EDGE, WCDMA
6. Debugging of circuits on customer’s boards, not limited to RFMD components, to ensure that RFMD components function optimally and meet the customer’s expectations.
7. Develop close relationships with customers and coordinate activities with Sales team
8. Understand RF Product performance and specifications in receiver and transmitter chain. Such products include: LNA’s, Modulators, Demodulators, AGC’s, VCO’s, Power Amplifiers, attenuators, mixers and transceivers. Must have good understanding of product functions and applications in system architecture. Must be able to work with matching circuits for various specifications such as PA efficiency and linearity.
9. Support customers in the field with any and all technical issues involving system architecture (definition, system specifications, block diagrams), product type and family (MMIC’s, chip sets, modules), applications (troubleshoot circuits, demonstrate product functionality, offer alternate design methods), designs (external matching, bias schemes), reliability (MSL, HTOL, FA’s, HAST, MTBF, Thermal analysis), packaging (substrates, MSL, material sets, modules, MMIC’s), Assembly (Manufacturing notes, reflow profiles, solder properties, MSL) system board and IC layouts (impedance control, board material, BOM, layer stack up), Testing (performance correlation, yield analysis, qualifications), and failure analysis (RMA, Corrective action). Work with technical team in U.S. offices to communicate and resolve field technical issues
10. Work with standard RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzer, power meter, signal generator, vector and network analyzer, digital scopes, and standard re-work stations. Work with circuit simulation packages such as ADS, Cadence, Spice, Microwave office, and PA load pull system.
Requirement:
1. BSEE or equivalent level of experience and/or training, MSEE will be preferred
2. 5 years of RF design experience, Experience in GSM handset design will be preferred
3. Multi-tasking, problem-solving, communications skills, RF, fluent in English (spoken and written) and Mandarin
4. Word Processors; spreadsheets, simulation software, MSOffice, automated measurement software as well as RF equipment such as: CMU test box, Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, ADS, Signal Generators etc
