Purpose:

Provide mentoring, detailed technical oversight and planning, leadership, and on-the-job skills training to offshore ESP Technicians in all facets of artificial lift

Accountabilities and End Results:

• Accurate monitoring and performance reliability of downhole ESP’s and VFD control.
• Assessment and interpretation of downhole data acquisition
• Train and instil a high level technical awareness and practice in the national work force in all activities.

Primary Functions:

• Manage, direct, enforce and communicate HSE policies and procedures in the Bohai PengLai operating area in order to protect personnel, the environment and the facilities.
• Offer advice, direction and guidance to the national staff for further development of relevant skills and work practices.
• Ensure accurate monitoring of ESP performance and VFD control, downhole gauges etc
• Improve the quality of data download and interpretation of such data to optimise well performance.
• Ensure new completions parameters are effectively established and programmed and performance optimised.
• Direct diagnostic activities and ensure a reliable process for RCA and problem solving techniques.
• Enhance the efficient control and monitoring of VFD performance and rectify spurious shutdowns caused by overheating etc.
• Ensure all failures are fully investigated and root-cause established.
• As a member of the Operations Maintenance team provide detailed planning support for maintenance orders and operations, and liaise directly with the Production Engineering Group.
• Support the Technical Competency Program by providing assessment, training and guidance for the national electrician and ESP staff.
• Safely carry out all duties assigned during any emergency situation.
• Ensure electrical equipment is installed and maintained to applicable codes and standards.
• Troubleshoot problems, identify functional failures and initiate CM orders in SAP.
• Insure all maintenance and project work is completed in a safe and timely manner.

Additional Technical skills:

• Experience working with power generation equipment up to 10.5KV including generator maintenance and operation, 10.5KV switchboards, vacuum breakers, 10.5KV cable terminations, distribution transformers, protective relay application and testing, medium/low voltage VFD’s, large horsepower motors, UPS systems - batteries, battery chargers, heat trace systems, HVAC, infrared thermography, PLC’s, and Fire and Gas detection systems.
• Good understanding of AC / DC theory. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to safely use electrical test equipment.
