Job description:

The mission will be to lead and manage a growing team of hardware, mechanical and CAD&Prototype engineers in Thomson’s Beijing VPS Labs . The products are set-top boxes (video decoders) that Thomson sells to satellite, cable, terrestrial, and IP/Telco operators. The team will employ of mix of development models (internal design, design house and ODM), each with different processes and issues. The products designed are for the worldwide market, including but not restricted to the China market.

The job will encompass the following main domains of activity:

1.Screening, interviewing, hiring and training of new employees
2.Organize, manage, motivate and ramp up the competence center team from hardware, mechanical and CAD&Proto domains as resource manager
3.Keep team in consistent and good retention rate
4.Interface closely with the other R&D lab( Rennes and Indy mainly) to maintain consistent development processes, techno-brick & platform coordination & selection, & training including hardware, mechanical and CAD&Prototype activities
5.Interface and co-work with all R&D product lines globally per request for project/product delivery
6.Interface with other Thomson entities: sourcing, operations team, validation team, software team globally. Since Thomson is a worldwide organization, some of these entities may be located in other continents, and may change from project to project.
7.Interface with other managers in Beijing and manage sharing resource for other BUs support including mechanical and CAD&Prototype actvities
8.Other resource management (project staffing, lab equipment budget, travel, components stock)
9.Practical implementation of Thomson’s corporate strategy, vision, and ethical charter
10.A business sense as well as a commercial attitude is expected with external customers or partners.
11.Interfacing with ODM partners (for products realized with ODM) if necessary

Required profile:

General

Good communication skills in English and Mandarin.

1. Specific
Proved project management and people management experience, and minimum > 2 years of
2. people management experience
3. Excellent communication and motivation skills
4. > 5 years of experience in product realization of electronic customer premises products, including taking products from concept to production
5. > 2 years of experience in video digital and analog industry, hardware experience is preferred
6. Good knowledge in tools, development processes, HW, mechanical architecture and prototype implementation
7. Experience in set-top boxes is a very strong plus
8. Experience in MPEG2, DVB and related technologies is a strong plus
9. Strong quality process focus is a must
10.Must be motivated by product development activity
11.BSEE (or equivalent) required with MSEE (or equivalent) preferred
12.Experience in a large multi-national company is a strong plus
13.Experience traveling or living in Europe or U.S. is a strong plus

6. 在全球范围内与其他Thomson团队接口，包括了采购，运营，测试及软件；
7. 与位于北京研发中心的其他事业部经理接口，共享机械和CAD产品原型资源；
8. 其他资源管理， 包括项目组织，实验室预算，差旅管理及原型零件库；
9. 实施Thomson公司战略，价值观及道德观念；
10.在与外部客户和合作伙伴交流时具有商业头脑；
11.如果需要，与ODM伙伴接口；

任职资格与具体要求 :

基本技能

良好的英文及普通话交流和表达能力。

具体专业背景

1. 可证明的项目管理及人员管理经验，其中至少有2年以上的团队管理经验；
2. 优秀的沟通与激励能力；
3. 5年以上消费类电子行业产品实现经验，包括了从概念到生产的全过程；
4. 2年以上视频行业经验，特别是硬件经验者优先；
5. 在各种开发工具，流程，硬件设计，机械设计及原型实现方面拥有良好的知识；
6. 拥有机顶盒经验者优先；
7. 拥有MPEG2，DVB及相关经验者优先；
8. 良好的质量流程观念是必须的；
9. 对产品研发拥有激情；
10.硕士研究生学历（或具有类似工作经验的本科生），电子类及相关；
11.具有在跨国公司经验者优先；
12.具有欧洲或美国出差或生活经验者优先；
