Responsibility:
1. Perform value-engineering analysis on current processes and designs. Investigate cost-saving measures wherever possible and prepare the necessary ECO's or help facilitate customer ECO’s in support of Newport’s OEM sub-assembly business.
2. Develop and document manufacturing process for Opto-mech products, including assembly, alignment and testing. Take from prototype stage into full sales released product stage.
3. Resolve product and process failures, define and implement corrective action plans to eliminate failure modes.
4. Keep abreast of state-of-the-art developments in relevant manufacturing technologies and production equipment. Prepare and champion proposals for improvements and upgrades of manufacturing capability. Specify the application of production equipment. Prepare and implement capital improvement proposals.
5. Estimates manufacturing cost, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
6. Create routings and conduct process improvements.
Requirement:
1. B.S. or above, majored in Optics / Mechanical.
2. Mechanical or Optical with at least 3 years of hands-on experience with opto-mechanical and electro-optic based products, and alignment and mounting of optical components into sub-assemblies.
3. CAD/CAM computer programs desired• Experience with (Soildworks, Correl Draw)
4. Must be familiar with Opto-Mechnical assembly techniques, interferometric test techniques, metrology, instrumentation, alignment and testing; cleanroom and production environment; WCM, Kanban, Cellular Manufacturing, TQM and JIT concepts.
